Eligibility, Tuition, and Fundraising
Homeschooled students in grades six and up are eligible to audition for Stagelight Productions' musicals. Casts will be limited to about 30 (preferably 25) student actors. Actors need not be students of Arise Christian Academy. Students who are no longer homeschooled but who have previously participated in Stagelight Productions are also eligible to audition.
As a Christian ministry of Arise Christian Academy, all performers and stage/tech crew members must sign ACA's Statement of Faith, stating that they wholeheartedly agree with and will abide by all elements of the Statement of Faith. We take very seriously a student's agreement with our Statement of Faith, so we ask students to carefully read it and prayerfully consider their signature and its meaning before the Lord before signing and auditioning. Parents must also sign the Statement of Faith.
Tuition
$350 - lead roles
$325 supporting and featured roles
$300 - ensemble
Each family commits to raising $100 in program advertisers and/or sponsors.
Tuition covers the following:
- 20 weeks of acting, vocal, and choreography instruction and experience through rehearsals and production
- show t-shirt
- 2 show tickets
- 1 show DVD (per family)
Stagelight Productions (SLP) is a ministry of Arise Christian Academy and is a non-profit group. All fees will be used to pay for rights and royalties to perform the show, scripts, Slayton House rental, sets, costumes, props, and the many other expenses that go into producing a stage musical. Stagelight's Vocal Director and Choreographer are the only paid staff.
Fundraising. While the actor tuition will cover a portion of our expenses, they do not provide for all the production costs. Therefore, to make our production financially successful, each cast member must participate in all fundraisers we hold, including securing sponsors, selling program advertisements, etc. Every family must obtain at least $100 in sponsors and/or advertisers for our program and participate in our additional fundraising efforts.
Rehearsals, Parent Involvement, and Stage Crew/Tech Team
Rehearsal Schedule. A detailed schedule will be provided once rehearsals begin. We rehearse from January through our April performances with some early rehearsals in November and December.
Tuesdays, 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Thursdays, 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Saturdays, 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Actors will be called by scene, as needed. However, most actors who have lead or supporting/featured roles will be needed at most rehearsals. Actors who miss more than three rehearsals for which they are scheduled (and only for valid reasons, e.g., SAT testing, illness, or family emergency) will be dismissed from the cast.
Tech Week Rehearsals. Tech Week rehearsals are mandatory and are about 8 hours per day the Monday through Thursday, leading up to opening night. All actors and stage crew/tech team must be at all Tech Week rehearsals for the duration of the scheduled rehearsals.
Parent Teams. Each actor family is expected to serve on one or more of the following teams:
- Backstage Team
- Cast Party
- Concessions (purchasing in advance and selling during the show)
- Costumes (sewing experience is a plus, but not necessary)
- Front of House Team
- Fundraising
- Props
- Seniors’ Recognition
- Set Artistry
- Set Construction
Stage Crew/Tech Team. Applications to serve on our Stage Crew or Tech Team are available to homeschooled 9th -12th graders. Stage Crew and Tech Team members must be able to participate in all Tech Week rehearsals.
For more information, please contact the director, Pamela Fahs, at [email protected].
